What a sad day indeed. First Farrah Fawcett passes, now Michael Jackson.
I am deeply saddened by the passing of my very first childhood superstar crush, a musical genius & entertainment icon. You may say what you will about MJ- I certainly didn’t agree with all his choices in life- but his influence on the music industry was unparalleled. He will be missed.
In tribute to Michael, please enjoy the extended cut of one of the BADDEST vidoes of all time: Smooth Criminal
I finally got around to watching Casino Royale (I have no clue what took me so long to watch it) and I must say, I really liked Daniel Craig in the role of 007.
What I liked about his protrayal… Ok, I’ll be honest, he is a bit of a hottie. And I love the color of his eyes. There were several scenes where they were highlighted (and while it may be a bit of movie magic) I’ve never scene eyes that shade of blue before, they were very intense. Now, Sean Connery will always be my #1 favorite Bond, but Mr. Craig is now #2, poor Pierce has been knocked to the #3 spot.
Now, back to the matter at hand, I enjoyed the less polished, rough around the edges Bond he brought to the screen. Very realistic and what I would expect from Bond on his first mission. All in all, an excellent movie, great acting & a great way to re-start the franchise.
In fact, my interest in the Bond franchise has been renewed and I would love to go back and watch them all. I may even pick up at least the 1st book for my summer reading . Anyone up for a Bond-A-Thon this summer??
It was a very exciting weekend this past weekend. I watched the race at Belmont Park. Now, I am not a big horse racing fan, but it was quite exciting! I was pulling for Mine That Bird, and when Calvin made that breakaway sprint and pulled into first, after running dead last for much of the first 1/2 mile or so… Man, that was a great race!! Even the baby was pulling for the horses, although she was going for the one in the hot pink & turquoise silks (sorry, can’t remember the horse’s name–see, told you I wasn’t the biggest fan .
Then, I saw two movie trailers that has gotten me way more excited about the 2009 summer movie season that I really needed to be. In my opinion, this has been the best summer movie line up in a LONG time. I honestly can’t even remember a year when this many movies caught my attention, meaning I wanted to see them in the theater and not wait until they were released on dvd.
So far, there’s been:
Underworld 3: Rise of the Lycans
Taken
Push
Street Fighter: Legend of Chun Li
The Watchmen
Fast & Furious—who doesn’t want to see Vin Diesel
Dragonball Z Evolution
X-Men Origins Wolverine
Star Trek
Terminator Salvation
Angels and Demons
And we still have the following to look forward to:
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
GI Joe: Rise of Cobra
And finally, the big ones, the 2 that sparked this entire post & really renewed my already high interest in the paranormal I’m currently brainstorming:
New Moon
Harry Potter & the Half Blood Prince
Now after viewing these two trailers, I dare you to not get at least the tiniest bit amped for them both. Visually, HP looks like it may be the best one yet. And Jacob is a hottie! I can already tell there will be a ton of fan girls jumping on the Team Jacob wagon this November, maybe even a few defecting from Team Edward’s camp.
Due to lots and lots of rain, I’m still not done planting. Which sucks because I wanted to have all my plants in the ground before June. Oh well, there goes one deadline- LOL
However, the onions are doing really well. They began sprouting about 2 weeks ago and are going strong. My ginger has taken root, and is sprouting little whatever ginger sprouts
I’ve almost gotten the front yard done. The lavender was pulled up (about 6 bushes in total), and I planted two new ones. Yes, I pulled up lavender just to plant more, but it’s a long story. Just trust me ;-) .
I believe that in a couple of weekends, with a little mulch, a little planting and a little back work, the front yard will be up and running.
The Challenges:
Well, the dog remains my biggest gardening challenge. I swear, there is just something about my little containter garden that drives her crazy, Not only has she eaten 4 of my blueberry bushes, but she’s also dug up my ginger twice. Good thing ginger is hardy and relatively fool proof.
<– see how lonely it looks without the blueberry
And I really believe she thinks the onions are silently tormenting her or something. She completely dug through (not dug up, but dug through) one of my containers. It looked like a mini back hoe had been run through it.
Then, since she got in trouble for foraging through the containers, she went and put a single paw sized hole in the dead center of the container. Not once, but twice. LOL! I kid you not. Then she looks at me like “See, I didn’t dig them up, I just played in the dirt a little”.
That dog is a trip.
Ok, that’s it for the garden check in. I will have pics as soon as I get the mulch down and my new blueberry bushes arrive, and I get the tomato and jalapeno planted. And yes, I’m a glutton for punishment by even attempting to put more vegetation in the backyard, especially more blueberries. But I think the dog and I have reached and understanding .
