This past Sunday I attended my very first NFL game, the Broncos vs. the Titans. It was a fun, yet adventurous trip, most of which I won’t get in to. But on the plus side, I met some new people, ate some good food, and enjoyed an excellent game and fellowship.
Here I am in on the pedestrian bridge heading towards the venue, couldn’t resist pausing for a pic with LP Field in the background. It was an excellent day to check out the game too. The sun came out just in time to chase away all the rain and clouds, the weather was perfect. Nice and sunny, but not too hot and a nice light breeze blowing about.
Due to the generosity of one friend, me and another friend were able to enjoy the game from the executive suites. Very nice accommodations, a good view, plenty of good food, and excellent company.
Now, on to a few “action shots” from the game
Coin Toss
Arguing the 1st of MANY penalty calls
Touchdown Broncos!
1st touchdown Titans!!!
Kenny Britt goes down, we didn't know it was for the season at the time
Chris Johnson about to bust a move
Hasselbeck scoping it all out
Tebow chill-axing; the closest he got to game play
Game Over!
"Locker" Jersey
All these homemade Locker jerseys tripped me out. Apparently Vince Young is not a fond memory for the Titan fans.
The sea of blue we saw when leaving the game was pretty awesome. Just the sheer volume of home team fans leaving all in good spirits, sporting the home team colors…
The sea of blue
All in all, an excellent time. Can’t wait to go back to check out my Peyton-less Colts in a few weeks. It may get a bit hostile, but I’m cheering for the Colts during that game. Y’all pray for me now
I thought it’d be nice to take the girls to the Cooper Young Arts festival today to get a little exposure to the arts in Memphis. Since I had a couple of hours to kill until my son got home, we headed out. It was a nice day– the sun was out, but it wasn’t too hot, and the crowd was managable.
So, you never really know what you gonna get on a nice day in Cooper Young. I present to you exhibit A. Loved his outfit, I hesitate to call it a costume just cos you never know… This could be every day attire for all I know- LOL.
This was the first thing the caught my eye when we got there . Literally, he was in the first set of tents– primo location.
He has some really pretty pieces and the camera doesn’t do the subtle color and light play justice on some of them. Of course I picked up one… I couldn’t resist. I mean it’s a wonder I left there with only one. (I had to exert all of my self-discipline to accomplish this feat, just let me tell you). And I picked up a cute one for me, and of course it’s blue
One of the reasons I wanted to go to the festival, and why I like to get jewelry from artists, is that I like having a few unique, signature pieces– something I won’t see on anyone else. As we were leaving, I was really bummed because I didn’t see anything that spoke to me. But on my way out I passed this one artist selling copper jewelry. This was significant to me for a few reasons, one of which being I’ve been looking for some nice copper pieces for about a year, so I quickly paid her a visit.
When I saw these, I knew I was going to get them. And even though they are nearly the same color as my hair they really look good on. Plus the artist (Perfect Piece) is super nice and super friendly. She’s really into her craft and I liked that about her. Each piece is hand craft, unique (she doesn’t replicate), and named. Yes, my new earrings have a name! And no, I’m not sharing it .
Well, the girls and I had a ton fun during our Girls Time today. Even visited the used bookstore and went shopping (yes, we’re nerds like that)
I don’t usually do this, but my company is doing a fund raiser for United Way and I wanted to share with with the world!
Okay, that may be a stretch, my reach is not quite that wide-LOL! But anywho, my company is holding a car wash with all proceeds going to the United Way. So if you’re in Memphis, TN and have some free time this Friday, September 9th, stop by. Get a clean car for a good cause!

I’m fresh off my big trip this year to New York. Well… maybe not so “fresh off” seeing that I got back a month ago. Yeah, I’m a bit slow with my trip recap .
So, as I was saying, “fresh off” my trip to New York and I had blast! My first trip to NY was for business so I have very limited time to really take in the city. This time, I was able to actually do a bit of sightseeing, a LOT of eating, and got to hang out with several friends that I’d not seen in years, as well as, make some new ones.
One of the most memorable parts of this trip for me was the excellent cuisine I was able to indulge in. ’Cause you know I’m a foodie at heart .
First up, Junior’s! Just let me say, I had the fortune of this fine establishment being right next door to my hotel. So when I say they say me at least once daily, I mean just that. I was there so often that my fav 2 waiters greeted me whenever I walked through the door. So, during my first visit, I was introduced to the NY deli tradition of have pickles, slaw, and pickled beets being served whenever lunch or dinner was ordered.
So…. I had my doubts about this, but being the foodie I am, I was down to try it
And as you can tell…. I wasn’t too keen on that experience. However I will say, that was the BEST slaw I’d ever tasted. And I *may* have even asked for slaw a breakfast once–or twice–, but I will neither confirm nor deny that…
Now, down to the reason we came. This was the best strawberry cheesecake ever!
And here’s my breakfast of granola with fruit (yes, that’s a HUGE bowl) and home fries (which were excellent, by the way).
And since I’m talking about breakfast, here’s my other breakfast meal at Junior’s. I was a bit more “reserved” this time.
Granola and yogurt…. so good.
And to round out my Junior’s experience, here’s a couple of the other delectable desserts I sampled: Lemon coconut cake and Devil’s Food cheescake.
That wraps up my Junior’s experience. I’ll do a separate post to highlight my other culinary adventures, including some of the best Cuban I’ve ever had. Stay tuned.
It’s been a while since I’ve posted. Been busy, more so than usual. AND I’m supposed to be writing right now, so OF COURSE I’m not…. (I can procrastinate with the best of them at times… smh)
But anywho, wanted to drop by and say hello. Now, I am off to do some writing, got some chapter outlines to complete.
I leave you with David Garrett performing Clair de Lune, one of my favs. Enjoy.
