2011, What the Future Holds?

Posted by La-Tessa on Jan 1, 2011 in Random Musings

First off, I count myself blessed to have made it to another year in good health, and with my family and friends all in good health as well.  2010 was a year of many changes and revelations for me.  Some good, some bad, some I’m still processing.  I’m not going to get heavy and go into a lot of details here about it, but some things I learned about myself in 2010 are:
1. I can’t always have what I want- an ongoing lesson
2. I’m done settling for less- life is too short
3. I loathe laziness & procrastination-both in myself & others

Moving into 2011, I have 3 things I want to work on:
1. Improve my physical, mental, and spritual health- this means regular exercise and healthy eating,  regular church/meditation time, & regular downtime to recharge my batteries.
2. Cultivate my relationships with  family & friends-  no one is promised tomorrow
3. No Excuses!- A  bit of a double edged sword, this one.  No excuses for not doing what I need to do, nor any for for doing what’s best for me.
4. Be happy- Life is too short, so courage is required to fully explore what I want out of life and to work for it.

That’s it, real short & sweet for me this year, but not simple, and definitely not easy.  As only iron sharpens iron, only I can make me a better me.

Now, enough of the heavy. Back to the special brand of specialness that you’ve come to know and love from  me.

Happy New Year

New Years
It’s 2010 and it’s a new day!

I usually don’t set new year resolutions, but this year I decided to give it a try.  Plus, I tend to work better when I have a plan.  :-)

So here goes, my two main resolutions for 2010 are:

1.  Start a regular exercise program- the goal here is not to lose weight, but to become a healthier me by getting in shape and toning up.  More energy is my ultimate motivation here.

2.  De-stress and de-clutter- I don’t mean physically, although the hubby would say that I need to get rid of some of my books) but mentally.  I want to learn to not sweat the small stuff as much in 2010.  This also means cutting the dead weight.  God sends people into our lives for a reason, a season, or a lifetime.  As tough as it is when a season ends, or a reason is over, there’s no point in trying to hold on to something that’s no longer there.

3.  Get back on schedule- this goal works in tandem a bit with resolution #2.  Planning and scheduling will help me de-stress, but this one goes a bit bigger than that.  In 2009, I made a conscious effort to put away my planner (because I’ve been accused of being anal a time or two, can you believe that?? ;-)  ) I was told this would help me relax more.  Did it? Ummm no!  Well, the experiment wasn’t a total waste.  I did learn that I don’t have to plot out every little thing that goes on in my world; however, things tend to go a bit smoother when I have a plan. :-)

Peace and blessing to everyone in 2010.
